Pamban Chai and Coffee House
Pamban's mission is to bring proper chai, and drinks from their heritage of India and Sri Lanka, into the speciality coffee scene, the home and beyond. One cup at a time!
Pamban - it all started when Aruna went to his friend Mayhul's house and had a taste of proper chai. The crazy fact that proper chai could not be found in cafes, gave them the idea to start a chai business together, combining the heritage of Sri Lanka and India.
The name is inspired by an island in-between India and Sri Lanka with strong British ties - representative of Aruna and Mayhul's backgrounds.
Pamban Chai and Coffee House was born in 2017 with the first cafe opening at Camden Market. In their first year, Pamban won numerous awards for their hand-brewed chai, speciality coffee and all-day brunch.
Subsequently, Pamban expanded to open their second cafe, after being approached by the Canary Wharf, in the heart of their estate.
Following their recognition within the speciality coffee scene, the demand for the Pamban chai to be served in the other cafes led to the development of their wholesale chai. Pamban now supplies leading cafes and establishments across the UK, including Origin, WatchHouse, Rosslyn and Rick Stein.
